There are many people in the world. Some are smart, some have people issues. There are even people that have both sets of genitals. There is one thing that they all have in common; they are all human. When I hear about the transgender people, whether they are trans men, or trans fem, talk about their rights, one thing they have in common and will never change, they are human.
Is it wrong for a person to want to be happy? Don’t you like when you are happy? That is all that the Transgender people are doing, trying to be happy. And a CIS people we make it hard on them, from limiting their healthcare, to not allowing them to dress in a way that they feel comfortable. These people have many hurdles in their life. To undergo any type of surgery these people have to have two letters from qualified mental health providers and have any mental health conditions under control. These are the WPATH standards that were put in place just to make sure that what they want to do, is indeed what is best for them.
Many years ago, A famous man made the statement “I have a dream, that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.” This statement, along with many others, from many other states, say the same thing. All people are equal. It does not matter if you are a man, a woman bisexual, Transgender, or even that you like to dress up as a cat. The basic premise is the same. We are equal. Human to Human.
There are some people with bad intentions out there, and unfortunately there always will be. But these people are ruining everything for the group that they claim to represent. Let’s look at 9-11. There were 4 people that completely changed the way the United States does air travel. 4. Or how a single bully in school can change the lives of so many.
Is there a way to allow people to be what they want? Yes. That is the simple truth.
I have this analogy. Actually, my landlord told me this and I expanded on it. She calls it Engineer brain. You can have two people in a room. A really smart engineer, and social butterfly. The social butterfly is great with people while the engineer is not. They are on two completely different sides of the scale. This is true on a lot of things. Sexuality; you can be straight or you can like the same gender. Housekeeping; You can be a clean freak, or keep a messy house. Computers; you can be Windows (PC) or a Mac person. You will fit on the scale somewhere. With this thought started to think about the implications of hormone uptake while still in gestation. Could it really be as easy as one part of you didn’t get the same message that the rest did? It has been proven that people that identify as trans have different thought patterns than their Cis counterparts. That their brain tends to follow the gender that they Identify with. So maybe my landlord is on to something with the engineer’s brain thought. But on that same note, Maybe I am looking into this a lot more than I realize.
There are many things in life that you cannot explain. People like proof. And my trans friends at this time don’t have the studies behind them to offer that. Does this mean that we treat them different? No because we were taught in school that all men were created equal.
If you take one thing from this letter, op-ed, Article, or whatever you found this to be; Let it be that they are still people, and while you may not agree or understand what they are doing, just know that they are people, Same as you.
